My first children's novel, Walking Backward, was released in October 2009 from Orca Book Publishers. It's tragic, comic, mysterious, and Highly Recommended by reviewers!
To purchase a copy, visit your local bookstore, shop online at Amazon, or order directly from Orca.
Not sure it's the book for you? Read more about it on my Walking Backward page. There you'll find excerpts of reviews from Kirkus, Booklist, CM, and the Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books.
You can read the full review of Walking Backward from CM Magazine online. (It's glowing--four stars!--but be warned, it contains a bit of a spoiler.) Or check out the most recent review in The Globe and Mail (also glowing, but no spoiler).
Over 60 friends, neighbours, and fellow writers joined me in celebration on November 1st at the Walking Backward book launch. It was a great gathering--be sure to check out the photos of my snake cake!
Since the launch, I've had wonderful feedback from my readers. (I've posted a few comments on my webblog). This has me working hard on my next novel for young readers. It's also tragic, comic, and mysterious, with a quick-witted 12-year-old narrator. (But this one is set in the near future, when school nurses are back in fashion and they know just how to punish troublemakers.)

Don't forget to write...
People like me and you do get their first books published--maybe at age 15, or maybe not until well past 50. But it happens. So if you're a writer, keep writing. And if you're thinking of becoming a writer, start writing.
